Jack in Water veröffentlicht nostalgische Weihnachts-Doppel-Single „I’d Rather Be Home For Christmas“

Der britische Singer-Songwriter  William Clapson aka Jack in Water veröffentlichte am 16.11.2022 seine nostalgische Weihnachts-Doppel-Single „I’d Rather Be Home For Christmas“ via popup-records, die außerdem eine gefühlvolle, akustische „stripped back“ Version des Weihnachtsklassikers „Silent Night“ enthält.

Der nostalgische Song „I’d Rather Be Home For Christmas“ handelt davon, auf der Suche nach romantisierten weihnachtlich-festlichen Gefühlen und Erinnerungen zu sein: „But the mince pies don’t taste as sweet now / And all the tinsels lost its shimmer / Predictably chasing my nostalgia / Just for a taste of festive cheer.“ In „I’d Rather Be Home For Christmas“ erkennt der britische Indie-Folk-Künstler, dass Weihnachten am schönsten ist, wenn man es mit seinen Liebsten verbringt und nicht unerreichbaren Weihnachtsvorstellungen hinterherjagt:„Cos stockings filled with oranges and coronation streets / Have nothing on the freedom when it’s only you and me.“

„Silent Night“ ist eines der Lieblingsweihnachtslieder von Jack in Water und obwohl es schon viele Coverversionen des Songs gibt, wollte der Musiker die Herausforderung annehmen und seine ganz eigene Version kreieren: „This song has been covered so much and I think the reason is that it has become a cultural phenomenon and I wanted to challenge myself to do a very sparse and stripped back version as there was the temptation to fill it in all over the place with harmonies.“
