Kraftwerk tritt wieder auf, aber diesmal mit Howlin` Wolf als Frontman. Hardman - das sind halb-elekronische Songs und Tracks irgendwo zwischen Wüste und Großstadt. Das sind außerdem: Jeff Hardman [North Hurley/New Mexico, alias Uwe Effertz] und Jay Hardman [Berlin, alias Janek Siegele]. Vor Jeff`s zur Wohnung umfunktioniertem Bus in North Hurley, New Mexico darben 50er Jahre Autowracks in der Sonne. Rostbraun gebrannt. Vor Jay`s Haustür in Berlin versuchen Berliner Kiezschönheiten das gleiche mit der Sonnenbank hinzubekommen. Mehrere tausend Meilen liegen zwischen den Kulturen der Gebrüder Hardman. In North Hurley erklingt im Honky Tonk die Jukebox zu Budweiser und Pool Billiard, in Berlin haben Drummaschinen und Laptops die Clubs vereinnahmt. Irgendwo dazwischen liegt die Welt von HARDMAN.

HARDMAN ziehen die Bilanz aus White Trash, Deep Soul, Folkrock-Kultur und Microprozessorästhetik beiderseits des Atlantiks. Kraftwerk tritt wieder auf, aber diesmal mit Howlin` Wolf als Frontman. Oder genau andersherum? Die entspannte Mischung aus Kollage und Songwriting zwischen digitaler Dekonstruktion und zum Teil sehr alter Popmusik wurde von HARDMAN komplett eigenhändig zusammengesampelt, allerdings nur bei sich selbst und nicht bei Dritten, wie das heutzutage gerne mal gemacht wird.

Jay hat, zwischen Digitalem und Songwriting im alten Stil pendelnd, zwei moodige Alben als "ROPE" auf GEIST REC. [einem Sublabel von Alec Empire’s Label DHR] veröffentlicht und arbeitet[e] mit so unterschiedlichen Künstlern wie Mikis Theodorakis, Maria Farantouri, Arto Lindsay, Alec Empire/Atari Teenage Riot, Raz Ohara oder auch Rechenzentrum zusammen. Jeff ist profilierter Songschreiber und Bandleader [The Twang Dudes, Gloomlifters, Psyfi] und arbeitet seit 1994 in den USA als Sessionmusiker, Produzent und Tontechniker unter anderem für Greg Brown, Kelly Joe Phelps, Eliza Gylkison und Geouff Muldaur.

In front of Jeff`s home,a converted school bus in North Hurley,New Mexico, 50`s auto-carcasses are beeing baked to a nice rusty brown by the sun. In Berlin, the place Jay calls his home, the neighbourhood belles achieve the same effect in the tanning studio. Several thousand miles seperate the two cultures of the HARDMAN brothers. While in North Hurley the jukebox at the local honky tonk provides the soundtrack to pool billiard and Budweiser, Berlin`s clubs and dancefloors are beeing ruled by drummachines and laptop computers. Somewhere in between lies the world of HARDMAN.

Their music takes stock of deep soul and white trash culture,folkrock and microprocessor-aesthetics on both sides of the atlantic and makes it all their own.Sampling and resampling themselves HARDMAN deconstructs and reconstructs a relaxed cocktail of digital collages, songwriting and old school popmusic. Under the name „Rope“ Jay has released to moody albums on Geist Rec. [a sublabel of Alec Empire`s DHR] and runs a prestigious live act working the world`s stages from Paris to Warschau to Hong Kong. He has worked with artists as diverse as Mikis Theodorakis, Maria Farantouri, Arto Lindsay, Alec Empire/Atari Teenage Riot, Raz Ohara and Rechenzentrum.
